Wine
Henschke Tappa Pass is drawn from grower vineyards in Tappa Pass and Light Pass in the Barossa and Eden Valleys. Henschke has the provenance to identify and bottle exceptional parcels of fruit.
The Barossa has a grower core of Lutheran descent dating back five generations, steadfastly continuing the traditions of their forebears.
The vines, some over 70 years old, grow in ancient low fertility soils ranging from terra rossa to red brown earth. The fully ripe Shiraz fruit is harvested and fermented in traditional open top fermenters.
The wine is matured in new and seasoned French hogsheads for 18 months prior to blending and bottling.
Deep purple crimson, Henschke Tappa Pass has dense layers of sweet dark fruit, perfectly balanced acidity and fine velvety tannins. Cellaring potential is 20 years.
